Giverny

Giverny

After a visit to Monet’s garden ‘Giverny’ in northern France I was inspired to try and capture the vibrant colours of the place and a feel for the many layers of the garden landscape. The colours and their various hues are ones I find myself going back to time and again in my weaving work and ‘Giverny’ is one of my largest and favourite pieces.
I later saw on TV an episode of ‘Escape to the Chateau’ where Angel Strawbridge turned her wonderful wallpaper staircase into printed fabric and thought if she can do it so can I! I decided to experiment with using photos of my Giverny art work and an application called Gimp to manipulate the images I made, screen print them on a two day course with the lovely Amy at Hebden Bridge Egg Factory, and turn them into my own fabric and art prints. A process I really enjoyed and seeing my own art work also translate into something practical to be used in the home was another twist in my journey with weaving and wool. You never know where this woolly stuff will take me next!
