In the Pink

I absolutely hate waste and try to make all or most of my artwork with secondhand materials, fibre and yarn that is heading for landfill. So I was thrilled to come across and meet Mike Gush from ‘From the Mills’ in Halifax who was happy to let me have the left over woollen selvedge from the blankets he makes and sells. This rug has been woven with his selvedge and its pattern has been dictated by the length of pieces I had from his scrap bag. Making something new out of something old, unloved or unwanted is a real passion of mine.
